An In-Depth Review on Realme Note 50

So you would like to purchase Realme Note 50, right? Before purchasing it, you need to know what the key features it provides and its overall specifications. Keep reading this article to know the reviews of this smartphone.

Design & Build Quality

The realme Note 50 looks identical to the previous realme C51 model. It features two rear textures - a glossy glass-like top section and a matte bottom panel covering most of the rear. Both attract fingerprints but are barely noticeable.

Like many recently reviewed smartphones, the Note 50 has an iPhone-like camera layout with what appear to be unnecessarily large lens islands, though this was likely done for symmetry and aesthetics. The third glass element on the rear is just for the LED flash rather than an additional camera lens.

The flat frame makes the Note 50 comfortable to hold for photos and videos. It also has a solid metal build quality matching the rear panel's color and glitter effect.

While the frame felt solid, some flexing produced creaking sounds, though routine use is unlikely to cause issues unless deliberate attempts are made to break the device. A case is included to provide added protection.

At 7.99mm thin, the Note 50 is comfortable to hold. Its 186g weight is average for the size but feels lightweight during normal use.

Display

The realme Note 50 has a 6.74-inch 1600 x 720 pixel resolution display with 83% color coverage and 560-nits brightness. Surprisingly, it has a 90Hz refresh rate.

Its display quality is acceptable given the affordable price. Colors and brightness are not excellent, but sufficient for most users. The 90Hz refresh rate lacks smoothness expected at this spec, though understandable on a budget phone.

The large screen size provides more content viewing area appreciation given the price. A single bottom-firing speaker replaces the stereo due to budget, but gets sufficiently loud. Sound balance could improve but does not irritate. A 150% volume boost mode includes minor standard volume improvements.

Hardware and Performance

The realme Note 50 is powered by an octa-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage supporting up to 2TB microSD expansion. Performance is good for the price, allowing smooth browsing, calls, videos, photos and more.

Gaming is fine at low-medium settings even for demanding titles. However, the limited 64GB storage can be an issue as popular games exceed 30GB. With the system using 17GB, only one large game can be installed unless expanding via microSD.

For shooter games, prioritizing frame rate over graphics turned out well, remaining playable on low-medium. However, the demanding Genshin Impact barely runs on lowest settings with lags and stutters during fights and busy areas.

Software and User Interface

The realme Note 50 runs on realme UI T Edition which resembles stock Android, avoiding slowdowns from heavy skins. Its app drawer provides useful app suggestions while bloatware can be uninstalled.

Settings are clean and clearly show battery percentage, estimated usage time, and storage capacity from the main menu. However, the system uses 18GB (28%) of the 64GB storage. Both the fingerprint scanner and face unlock worked well during testing.

Camera

The realme Note 50’s camera setup is limited due to resources being allocated to performance. It has a lone 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

Image quality from the rear camera is usable but not exceptional. Photos have decent detail and accurate colors, though dynamic range is limited. Portrait mode performs well.

Low-light photos are usable for social media while maintaining expected quality levels from the front camera, even for video calls.

Battery and Charging

Despite its low price point, this phone retains the standard 5,000mAh battery capacity found in many current models. However, limitations associated with its budget design are apparent in charging performance.

The phone's lower resolution screen and less powerful processor contribute to remarkably long battery life. It achieved 16 hours and 40 minutes of runtime on the PCMark battery test, near the highest result of 18 hours.

In regular use, the phone can easily last two full days on a single charge with casual activities like web browsing, messaging, and phone calls. Heavy gamers may need to recharge daily or midday with continuous gameplay.

Regarding charging, the included 10W adapter is slower. Our testing showed it took approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes for a full charge from empty to full capacity.

Memory & Storage

The Realme Note 50 is a smartphone that offers a variety of memory and storage configurations to suit different user needs. It comes with options for 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, media, and documents. The device supports microSDXC cards, allowing users to expand storage further if needed.

In terms of RAM, the Realme Note 50 is available with 4GB  of RAM that ensures smooth multitasking and efficient app performance. For users who opt for the 4GB RAM model, there’s an additional feature called Dynamic RAM, which can expand the available RAM using the built-in storage, potentially doubling it up to 8GB.

The phone’s memory uses eMMC 5.1 technology, which provides a balance between performance and cost, making it a suitable choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for a reliable smartphone experience. Overall, the Realme Note 50’s memory and storage capabilities are designed to deliver a seamless user experience, whether for everyday tasks, entertainment, or productivity purposes.
