Display Types, Sizes, Features and Resolution
The quality of the display is important for various reasons. It’s the most important factor for content watching. For example, a phone may have great performance specs but its display quality is lower. Then you will not have a good gaming experience. Similarly, maybe the camera is good and took a nice photo. But because of the low display quality, it doesn’t look as appealing to you as it is supposed to be.
Also for general browsing, reading, video watching, app usage and so on, a fine-quality display is very important. Another significant feature is the eye-comfort feature. It reduces harmful blue light from the display which can harm the eyes, especially at night time in dark or low-light scenarios. You also would want a smoother display with 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate support. The traditional display supports a 60Hz refresh rate. Then OLDED, AMOLED or Super AMOLED displays are generally better that IPS, LCD or TFT displays as well.
Apart from the above factors, display size is also very important. Some prefer a smaller display size because it allows the phone to be more compact and they want that. Others want a display as big as possible so they can have a more immersive viewing experience. Displays under 6-inch are considered smaller and 6.7-inch or above are considered as large displays.
