Unboxing the ZTE Nubia Z70S Ultra was like pulling off the covers of a well curated collection. First the device greeted me, its smooth appearance indicating its capabilities. The distinctive red USB C cable was a nod to Nubia's signature flair, underneath it. It awaited me in a frosted silicone case protecting without hiding the phone's elegance. 

The package was also completed with the user manual and SIM ejector tool which were key to a complete user experience for Nubia. Every part was carefully placed and the unboxing was as premium as the device itself.

Design & Build Quality

Starting off with a bold, industrial design, the ZTE Nubia Z70S Ultra immediately stands out. The precision of a high end camera is apparent in its flat aluminum frame and sharp edges along with leather textured glass back. What makes it unique from other smartphones is the camera module it has which fills top third of the rear.

6.85 inch AMOLED display dominates the front of the device and is notch and punch hole free since it is powered by the 7th generation under display camera technology. This choice of design offers uninterrupted viewing experience thus enhancing immersion in media consumption.

But the Z70S Ultra also has functionality on its side. But there were some limitations that I spotted. It does have a high refresh rate but it isn't adaptive as LTPO tech isn't used which means that it's not adjusting dynamically to save battery life. In addition, the area above the under display camera sometimes looked subtly different in low light, an otherwise minor annoyance in an otherwise seamless display.

All in all, the Z70S Ultra’s display is a premium, all around experience that balances high brightness, rich colors and a total lack of interruption to the viewing area. Camera

The heart of the Z70S Ultra features a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with variable aperture (f/1.6 to f/4.0). The Z70S Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and Adreno 830 GPU which makes it able to tackle the heaviest tasks and high resolution gaming without breaking a sweat. 

But the device spends much time under heavy loading which causes considerable heat buildup above 63°C in some places. Performance throttling and in the worst cases condensation under the camera lens, can result.

The Z70S Ultra runs on Nebula AIOS based on Android 15 and it comes with a clean interface with almost no bloatware. Usability is improved by features such as real time AI translation during calls and an AI powered gallery search.
