Honor has brought a new twist to the world of foldable phones with the Honor Magic V5. The Magic V5 is faster and thinner than any other phone in its category, and it uses the all-new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It's not just about smoothness, the two AMOLED screens are exceptionally sharp, and the new hinge system is beautifully crafted.

Add in a powerful triple camera system powered by Leica and stylus support, and you have a foldable phone that's more practical than ever. But does the Honor Magic V5 prove to be the best foldable phone ever, as they claim? Let's find out in this review.

An In-Depth Review on Honor Magic V5

The technology brand Honor has released its new foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, which already seems to have attracted much attention due to its unfolded thickness of only 4.1mm and a weight of only 217g. With a high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a bright dual-screen LTPO OLED panel, and a Leica-designed triple camera system, it is supposed to be a top-tier foldable phone. Every premium device has its advantages and compromises. The Honor Magic V5 is a high-end phone, and its price in Bangladesh is as follows with full specs and performance highlights.

Box Content

This is what you get inside the Honor Magic V5 box:

  • Honor Magic V5 Smartphone
  • 66W Charger
  • USB Type-C cable
  • SIM ejector tool
  • User manual
  • Protective Case

It was a pleasure to unbox Honor Magic V5. The phone stands right on top with its ultra thin folded style of elegance giving a first impression. Under it, there was a USB-C cable. There is also the typical paperwork and SIM ejector tool. In general, Honor has done a good job of packing everything carefully, so it was easy to get up and run out of the box.

Design & Build Quality

The ultra-thin design of the Honor Magic V5 is by far the most stunning thing about its design. The folded size is 8.8mm (9mm depending on the color) and unfolded is only 4.1mm, which makes it the thinnest large-format foldable on the market today. Honor has also reduced the thickness and weight to make it only 217g which is practically unbelievable in a phone of this form factor. The Magic V5 feels more refined, balanced and easier to hold compared to other foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or even Honor V3 which preceded it.

The reengineered steel hinge on Honor is rated up to 500,000 folds and makes this engineering feat possible. The hinge is not only sturdy and smooth to use when opening or closing the phone, but it also provides the phone with a near seamless folding experience. When closed there is little gap and the unfolding mechanism has a reassuring click without any sense of stiffness or fragility.

The outer and inner screens are also covered with scratch-proof glass and long-lasting internal layers. The Magic V5 also has IP58 and IP59 ratings, providing decent resistance to water splashes and dust, which is still uncommon in the foldable market.

In terms of aesthetics, the Honor Magic V5 has curved edges that are smooth and have a matte finish, which is fingerprint-resistant and provides a better grip. The metallic trim and classy accents are combined with the color choices such as Classic Black, Ocean Blue, and Ivory White. All versions are of high quality but the white one is the lightest and thinnest.

The triple Leica-engineered lenses are fitted on a circular camera module on the back. The camera island is in the center and is a bit elevated and makes a visible bump. Although it is a bit bulky, it also provides a natural place to rest your finger on, when using it with one hand. This enhances the phone to be easy to balance even though it is thin. The octagon-shaped metal frame that encapsulates the camera is not only protective of the lenses, but also adds a unique, premium design to the module.

Honor has also added a premium vegan leather case in the box that is the color of the phone. It shields the hinge and back without being very bulky. The case also has a foldable ring to serve as a kickstand, which makes media consumption much more comfortable and hands-free use much more viable.

All in all, Honor Magic V5 aces both the design and ergonomics and creates a foldable that looks like something out of the future, feels like a high-quality device, and is surprisingly convenient in daily use.

Display

When it comes to a foldable phone, display quality is probably one of the main priorities that you have, and Honor is aware of that. The Magic V5 does not hold back by the brand, as it is fitted with two high-performance OLED panels that are geared to impress under any light conditions.

Externally, you have a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED cover display with a sharp 1060 x 2376 resolution, and the butter smooth 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This panel has a jaw-dropping peak brightness of 5000 nits, which is one of the brightest screens in any smartphone. It also has the protection of the hardened NanoCrystal Shield 2.0 glass by Honor, a company that boasts of being 40 times stronger than the normal smartphone glass. The gentle bends on the sides provide a sophisticated look and contribute to a seamless experience of making gestures without irritating the screen's obtrusive reflections.

When you open the Magic V5, what you see is a big 7.95-inch foldable AMOLED screen. Similar to the outer screen, it has an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz, and a high-resolution output of 2172 x 2352 pixels. Its brightness is also a little bit lower at about 1800 nits, but the display is still comfortably visible even in the direct sunlight. The crease is so subtle that it is hardly there- much shallower than the one you can expect on similar models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6- and the matte screen protector does an excellent job of concealing it and making it scratch resistant.

Both of the screens are rich in natural colors and HDR is supported. Viewing Netflix or YouTube is immersive, as it is filled with highlights and shadow. Be it gaming, reading, or multitasking on split windows, the two panels provide a high-end visual experience with smoothness.

The only small oddity is the location of selfie camera notches. The inside screen has a centrally positioned punch-hole on the right which may encroach on the letterboxed video material. Nevertheless, it is much less obtrusive than the under-display cameras of Samsung and is not distracting in everyday usage.

The eye comfort is also big on Honor, with the dimming rates of PWM being the industry-leading 3840Hz on the inner screen and 4320Hz on the outer. There is the low blue light support, adaptive brightness, and an exclusive AI Defocus Display mode that replicates the effect of myopic defocus lenses to alleviate eye strain during prolonged periods of usage. Although it is a minor detail, it is another mindful addition that will help to increase the long-term functionality.

On the whole, the displays of the Magic V5 are the best on any foldable one can find: super-bright, silky-smooth, long-lasting, and easy on the eyes.

Camera

The Honor Magic V5 has some serious imaging hardware that is as suggested by its large circular camera bump. The triple-camera system on the back is co-developed with Leica, consisting of a 50MP primary camera with a wide f/1.9 aperture and a large 1-inch-like sensor, 50MP ultra-wide with autofocus and macro, and 64MP periscope telephoto with up to 100x digital zoom. The inner and outer screens both have a 20MP punch-hole selfie camera but the foldable nature of the device makes it a breeze to use the rear cameras to take selfies as well which are of high quality as well.

Daylight Photo:

The Magic V5 produces lively, detailed shots with rich color and excellent contrast in well-illuminated situations. Dynamic range is very good, with highlights and shadows being captured well without over-exposed skies and under-exposed shadows. The primary 50MP camera also focuses quickly and is great at taking sharp action shots, and it is dependable when it comes to capturing the bustling street scenes.

The 64MP periscope lens that translates to a 90mm full-frame lens is fantastic in portrait and zoomed-in shots and delivers amazing clarity at 10-15x zoom. The ultra-wide camera is wonderful when it comes to architectural or scenic landscape shots and the added autofocus and macro options make it a well-rounded tool when it comes to tight or creative shots.

Low-light Photo:

The primary sensor does not disappoint at night. Pictures are crisp, and exposure is balanced, and there is little noise, especially when the Night Mode is activated. The ultra-wide starts to get soft and show grain particularly at the edges, but can still be used in wider shots where there is good ambient light. The 3.5x telephoto is also acceptable in low light, but a touch of motion blur can work its way into a photo without a steady hand. Generally, there is good low-light performance, particularly when you remain on the main sensor.

Magic V5 has incorporated the new Studio Harcourt portrait mode as one of the best features of the Honor 200 Pro into its camera application. It also provides dramatic, studio-like lighting effects on portraits taken using the rear cameras. With the foldable design, aligning and previewing the main camera system to take professional-looking selfies is exceptionally simple.

Both of the selfie cameras are sufficient to make video calls and simple photographs, but they are no match to the rear sensors. When you care about image quality then it is always good to turn the phone around and use the back arrangement.

The Magic V5 has up to 4K at 60fps on all the rear cameras, and 4K at 30fps on the selfie shooters. Stabilization is steady and even between lenses, and the built-in mics provide good, well-balanced sound. By default, colors may be a bit too contrasty, but it is easily fixed with filters or by getting into Pro Video mode where you can apply your own LUTs to achieve a more cinematic appearance.

There is also a new AI Eraser in honor, which can eliminate the background objects or people in the post-processing. It is not a revolution, but it is fast, simple to use, and it is effective in clearing up distractions in your shots.

Concisely, the Honor Magic V5 is a flagship-class camera with a potent combination of hardware and smart software, encased in a foldable body, which truly improves creative photography.

Performance & Software

The Honor Magic V5 is driven by the latest chipset ever made by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 3nm chip. Combined with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, the phone is lightning fast when it comes to everyday multitasking and even challenging gameplay. Whether you want to use several apps, cut 4K video, or play some heavy games, such as Genshin Impact or Zenless Zone Zero, set to the highest graphics, the Magic V5 will do it without any problems. The frame drops are minimal and the load times of the app are almost instant.

But all that power in such a thin frame does cause some heat to be generated when working long periods. The phone does not get hot, and it is only warm, particularly around the hinge section. The thermal throttling is kept to a minimum and the performance can be sustained under a load which is not easy to achieve in many foldables.

Software-wise, the Magic V5 has the MagicOS 9, a custom skin by Honor on top of Android 15. Similar to the earlier models, MagicOS is a combination of the aestheticism of iOS and the adaptability of Android. It will not be the skin that is loved by everyone, but it is slick, stable and full of useful features, at least to a foldable.

Among the smoothest new features, there is the Magic Capsule, the Honor-ian response to the Dynamic Island of Apple. It floats at the top of the display and provides tappable real-time access to timers, phone calls, and music controls. It is practical and well-incorporated into the UI, not being a gimmick but providing an extra convenience.

Magic Portal is another brilliant drag-and-drop tool that anticipates what you want to do in context. As an example, moving an address can trigger Google Maps, or clicking on a product image may lead to reverse image search. This feature really enhances productivity as it supports more than 150 apps.

Honor also keeps driving AI integration, such as two-way call noise cancellation, real-time translation with the Google Cloud AI, and a new deepfake detection system that can protect video calls against scams, which is a progressive feature in the modern digital world.

It is somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to multitasking on the Magic V5 despite its foldable form. It gives you the basics floating windows, split screen and a persistent taskbar but not much more. More dynamic layouts can be found in competitors such as the OnePlus Open with its Open Canvas mode or the Pixel Fold which has an easy to use drag-and-drop system. Magic V5 can most definitely multitask, but there is more potential that has yet to be tapped by MagicOS 9.

Nevertheless, in terms of raw performance, fluidity, and AI-related features, the Honor Magic V5 is one of the tallest foldable flagships.

AnTuTu Benchmark & GeekBench Score

On the Magic V5, AnTuTu benchmark v10 yielded a mind-blowing 17,36,360 score, which makes it the best performing smartphone in the top 2 percent of all smartphones tested. That brute force is undeniable in general multitasking and high-fps gaming.

On GeekBench 6, the phone scored 2976 on single core and 8892 on multi core in the first listing. Another source recorded a little higher peaks 3188 single-core, 10,086 multi-core, presumably due to early optimized build.

The Magic V5 is not only fast but also flagship-level speed that meets the expectations. Apps open and close on a daily basis, multitasking remains smooth, and even benchmark tests remain competitive.

Battery & Charger

The Honor Magic V5 is equipped with a next-gen 5,820 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is one of the largest ever to be found in a foldable. This innovative technology enables Honor to cram in even more power into a thinner frame, and with the power optimization capabilities of the AI in MagicOS 9, the battery life was expected to be off the charts. The reality is that the performance is good but not best in class.

The Magic V5 comfortably lasted at least a day of moderate use with probably 6 to 7 hours of screen-on time, even with the 120Hz screen on. However, when you have a lot of multitasking, playing games, or working with a camera, you will be seeking a charger by the end of the day. It is a step up on the Magic V3, and it beats most foldables in its category, but it is not as long-lasting as it claims.

honor magic v5 battery charging image

Fortunately, the charging is the bright spot of the Magic V5. It has 66W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities, using the Honor SuperCharge ecosystem, which is the best in its foldable category. I timed a complete 0-100% top-up to take approximately 43 minutes on a wired connection and a little over 50 minutes on wireless, numbers that easily top both Samsung and Google in foldables.

In general, the battery life is not a breakthrough, but the fast and versatile charging capabilities make the Magic V5 one of the most convenient foldables to use in everyday life.

Honor Magic V5 price in Bangladesh

Around late July 2025, I checked the market in Bangladesh, and the Honor Magic V5 price in Bangladesh is BDT 220,000 (Unofficial) for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

In real life, that price is hefty, but given the svelte 217-gram foldable form factor, flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, dual AMOLED displays, and silicon-carbon battery, it checks out as what you would expect of a high-end device.

When you want bleeding-edge spec and design in BD, the Magic V5 has a steep premium to pay, but it is worth it.

Final Word

The Honor Magic V5 is one of the most polished foldables of 2025, combining slick design with flagship performance, flexible cameras and useful AI. It has a lightweight construction, a better hinge and fast charging, which makes it have a good advantage in everyday life. Multitasking and battery life are also a bit subpar, but overall, it is a polished and premium experience. The Magic V5 is one of the best choices available today, especially when you want a foldable that is not only very performant but also practical and photo-capable.
