Vivo Y91i is an interesting release in a very demanding price range. We are seeing an increase in consumer attention in this price category. Let us discuss where Vivo Y91i stands in the competition in this short review.
The so-called waterdrop notch (also called dewdrop, teardrop or V-notch) display is the big positive of this gadget. The design looks very elegant, minimal and trendy with this kind of front side. You will hardly get such design in this price range. The display is a huge 6.22” HD+ one with excellent viewing experience and fine colors. But the body is made of plastic and there is no Gorilla Glass protection which are some of the drawbacks. One hand use should work fine with 88.6% screen to body ratio and just 163.5 grams weight for regular users. But users with smaller hands are suggested to have a physical experience before making a purchase.
The 4030 mAh battery may support you for a whole day easily in case of intensive use. But there is no fast charging so, charging will take some time. Then we have got the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset like the previously released Vivo Y91 in a higher budget range Performance is quite decent for the price. But remember, it is still a lower range MediaTek chipset and the RAM is just 2 GB. So, if smooth, high-quality graphics experience is what you are looking for, this may not be the right choice. Oppo A3s with Snapdragon 450 or Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite with Snapdragon 625 and Android One in a little higher price would be much better options.
13+2 MP primary camera is able to capture decent quality photos in the daylight. Full HD video recording is also quite fine and reasonably stable without any image stabilization. But the overall quality is nothing over the top. In fact, we found out that the back camera of Xiaomi Redmi 6 is capable of delivering shots with finer details, sharpness and color adjustment. The low light shots of Vivo Y91i is also very inferior. There is too much noise, even quite blurry and strongly lacks light and colors. Well, at least, we have seen overall satisfactory shots by the front camera. Still, lower-priced Redmi 6 is more worth considering the camera and overall specs, except for the design.
Vivo Y91i has OTG, fingerprint, face unlock, FM Radio, Dual SIM, 32 GB internal storage and so on as further features. Overall, it is still a fair choice for the price, especially if the stylish design and big display is a crucial factor for you and high-performance is optional.
