Tecno Mobile is a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings based in Hong Kong but is a Chinese smartphone maker. It is a successful brand in the continent of Asia and Africa. Another successful brand itel is the sister concern of them. As of March 2023, they are the 10th most popular brand of Bangladesh with 2.85% market share. (source: statcounter)
History
Tecno Mobile started its journey in the year 2006 and primarily directed its business on African and the South Asian demand. But after just two years in 2008, they have stopped their progress in Asia and concentrated only on Africa. After about eight years in 2016, when they became a big name in Africa, they have decided to make their next move to continents like Middle-East and India. Within a short period of time, they got recognition in those areas.
Tecno in Bangladesh
In July 2017, the brand officially entered Bangladeshi market. Tenco started their journey in Bangladesh with just five smartphones. From them, the Camon CX Air was in the spotlight. They especially mentioned their Pixel X image processing technology for excellent quality photos in low light in media coverage to distinguish them from other brands with low budget models. They also offered 13 months warranty and 100 days replacement facility upon their first release. The first Tecno phones were in a price range of 6,390 Tk. to 19,990 Tk.
The central focus of Tecno is the emerging markets. Bangladesh was technically an emerging market in 2017 when they entered the country. But it already has many established and dedicated brands for low and low-mid budget consumers. In 2018, Transsion Holdings founded their first phone assembling factory in Bangladesh for Tecno and their sister concern itel. It confirmed their dedication for this market and the positive mentality to grow and expand. Since then, Tecno mobile can be released at a more affordable price as the tax payment is now much lower. In 2023, Tecno continues its success with releases like Tecno Spark 10 Pro and Tecno Pova series.
