One thing worth noting is that the protective case is included, so you know you are getting your device protected the moment you get it. Design & Build Quality

Upon first holding the ZTE Blade V70 Design, I noticed a sleek profile and well thought out design choices. Measuring 165.8 x 77.1 x 8.2mm and weighing 206g it won’t feel bulky and remains comfortable to hold. A glass front, plastic frame and a back panel made of either glass or eco leather both looks good and feels comfortable to touch.

Display

Let’s Unbox ZTE Blade V70 Design and the first thing I noticed about this phone is the huge 6.7-inch IPS LCD display. I also like how smooth scrolling and touch interactions are thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate, something I’d expect to see only on the more expensive models. 

But the device’s resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels (equiv. 264 ppi) may not be good enough for people who are used to Full HD screens. Text and images are sharp enough for everyday use, but discerning users will notice a sense of softness when viewing high definition content or doing graphic intensive work. 

In a positive light, the IPS LCD panel maintains consistent color reproduction across the board and wide viewing angles, so that visuals remain bright and accurate from different angles. It also has a 20:9 aspect ratio that makes the cinematic feel especially impressive when viewing widescreen videos.

Upon the first time exploring ZTE Blade V70 Design camera capabilities, I was eager to see how good quality photography could be a quality photography on a budget. On the back, the device has a dual camera 50 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF along with 2 MP depth camera for portrait shots. The primary camera takes fine detailed pictures with correct colors in well lit conditions and makes everyday photography a joy.

A bokeh effect is achieved by the depth sensor which adds a professional finish to portrait shots. In complex backgrounds, however, the separation of subject and background is not always precise.

Selfies are good enough courtesy of the 16 MP front facing camera with reasonable detail and colour reproduction. Videos are also recorded at 1080p@30fps for video calls and social media content.

Daylight Photography:

With detailed images and accurate colors, the 50MP main camera does well in well lit conditions. Its high resolution sensor means photos are sharp and it’s also suitable for everyday photography. A depth sensor helps produce a nice bokeh effect in portrait photos.

Low-Light Photography:

The camera’s performance is degraded in low light conditions. Details aren’t as sharp and images tend to have noticeable noise. As the camera lacks optical image stabilization and a dedicated night mode, shots appear blurry if the camera is not held still. The LED flash can help light close subjects, but is no substitute for advanced low light abilities.

The rear camera is good enough for casual videos with 1080p at 30fps video recording. Optical image stabilization is absent, so videos can look jerky if they aren’t held still.

The Unisoc T606 chipset is an octa core CPU (2x1.6 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6x1.6 GHz Cortex-A55) with Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. When combined with the above setup, it’s all smooth sailing for everyday tasks like web browsing, social media and streaming. 

According to my experience, multitasking between apps was normally smooth, specifically on the 8GB RAM model. Gaming on the Blade V70 Design is hit or miss. Games such as Candy Crush and Subway Surfers work fine. For example, I tried more challenging games like PUBG Mobile and frame drops and extended loading times suggest the device isn’t as well suited for intensive gaming. 

This device is strong in storage. I had 256GB of internal storage, so I had no problem for apps, photos and videos. Dual SIM functionality is shared with the microSDXC slot for further expansion.

Android 14 features make for a more modern and user friendly software experience. One small thing I ran into was that the phone would randomly switch to silent even though it was set to ring. It appears to be a software glitch and may need to be fixed with a future update. 

The ZTE Blade V70 Design offers reliable performance for everyday use and generous storage with a pleasant software experience. Overall though, it's limited in its ability to run high end gaming and there are occasionally software quirks.

Battery & Charging

Even though ZTE Blade V70 Design is packed with a 5,000 mAh cell, I was keen to see how it performs when unboxed. All day streaming videos, browsing social media and some gaming, the battery ran down to empty enough to last through the second day. For a device at this price, this is impressive endurance.

It is also able to charge the device with its 22.5W wired charging. For a battery this size, it charges from 0% to 100% in about 90 minutes in my experience which isn't bad at all. It isn’t as fast as the charging speeds of some flagship phones, but it’s more than enough for the average user. 

What’s missing is wireless charging. It's not a deal breaker, but it's becoming a feature that's becoming increasingly common even in mid range smartphones.

All in all, the ZTE Blade V70 Design provides a good battery life and a fast charging speed which means you don't have to be constantly popping the handset into its charger.
