From the looks to the smooth touch of the screen to using it on a daily basis, the Xiaomi Poco C71 has a lot of promise. Yet, similar to any phone, it has its strengths and weaknesses.

When I received the Xiaomi Poco C71, I was shocked by the content of the package that was included. In the box, there is the smartphone, a 15W charging brick, a USB type C cable, SIM card remover, a case, and some manuals. Still, it is noteworthy that this is an affordable device, which means that you do not have to spend money on accessories that are usually included in the package. This thoughtful inclusion gives more value and makes the Poco C71 a recommendable device in this price range.

Design & Build Quality

When I first got hold of the Xiaomi Poco C71, I must admit that its design was a work of art. However, as it is an affordable smartphone, it does not skimp on design or the structural feel of the smartphone. The phone has a thin form factor with a thickness of 8.26mm and a weight of about 193 grams, thus easily portable and easy to handle with one hand.

The matte-textured back panel not only enhances the look of the device but also ensures it does not slip easily from the hand of the user. One of the most notable aesthetic possibilities is the Cool Blue color with its two-tone metallic finish.

The most noticeable addition is the IP52 rating for dust and limited water exposure, which is unusual for devices of this price range. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is among the fastest and most accurate, making it a plus to the overall experience.

The phone also supports two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time, which is a good feature for those who require it.

Display

The Xiaomi Poco C71 is one of the best-looking budget phones in the market when it comes to the display. The refresh rate of 120Hz makes the scrolling and animation to be smooth, making it helpful for the general usage.

The brightness goes up to 600 nits, which is pretty good for outdoor use while direct sun exposure can still be problematic at times. The screen also comes with the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker Free Certification , which makes it ideal for prolonged use.

Daylight Photo:

The Xiaomi Poco C71 comes with a 32MP rear camera for taking photos and videos in daylight and at this price range, the phone’s camera is quite impressive. The photos taken during the day turn out to be bright and well-lit and are ideal for posting on social media platforms or for casual photography. The camera’s color reproduction and detail are satisfactory, therefore, it is an ideal friend during shooting outdoors.

Low-light Photo:

In the low light conditions, the Night mode assisted in increasing brightness and details but there is some amount of noise visible. It also has a 10x digital zoom, however, the image quality is not very good when zooming is done beyond this level.

Video recording is also available at 1080p at 30fps for easy and smooth use in various tasks. However, the lack of stabilization features may result in some shakiness in the handheld videos.

The front-facing 8MP camera, which has an f/2.0 aperture, is good for selfies if taken in well-lit environments. The likes of the AI Beautify and HDR make it possible to capture good portrait shots that can be shared on social media. At the front, it also boasts a 1080p at 30fps on the front camera which is just good enough for video calls and occasional vlogging.

Performance & Software

The Xiaomi Poco C71 brings an affordable device with a good balancing of performances and the software used on it.

The unisoc t7250 (12nm) octa-core processor of Poco C71 ensures that the device performs well in basic usage such as, browsing , social media and video playback. It has 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and can handle up to 6GB of virtual RAM, which makes it a decent performer when it comes to multitasking. However, the eMMC 5.1 storage means the load times for applications are not as quick as they could be. Casual games are fine, however, complex games may need lower details settings for the game to run successfully.

Powered on Android 15 (Go Edition) with HyperOS, the Poco C71 has a simple and easy to navigate interface. There is some bloatware that comes with the system, but most of it is not a problem, as they can be easily uninstalled. In this segment, the device is to get Android updates for two years, and security patches for a span of four years.

The Poco C71 is a good phone for general use and has a relatively clean Android software experience that makes it ideal for those who are operating on a small budget.

AnTuTu Benchmark & GeekBench Score

In terms of performance, it has great performance for smartphones that falls under this price category.

The device received a total of 2,29,401 points in AnTuTu v10 benchmark tests, placing it in the middle of devices in the budget segment. Breaking down the scores: CPU is at 90,328, GPU is 31,257, Memory is 74,716, and UX is 64,357. These numbers suggest good performance for productivity and acceptable for gaming.

When it comes to benchmarks, the device gets a single core rating of 440 and multi-core rating of 1,481 on Geekbench. Such results are indicative of versatility and work throughput that should be conducive to routine computing tasks.

Battery & Charger

One of the most important aspects of the Xiaomi Poco C71 is the battery it comes with; the device is equipped with a 5,200mAh battery.

In real-world usage, I found that the Poco C71 can last between 24 to 48 hours on a single charge, and that was with the 120Hz refresh rate engaged. This is quite impressive especially looking at the fact that this is a budget device.

There is a USB Type-C port for charging at a 15W fast charging rate. However, it takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge from 0% which is slower than some of the other car that are in the same price category.

The battery life of the Poco C71 smartphone is not a let-down and is on par with the majority of devices in the same market segment, allowing users to rely on it for long hours of usage.
