Vivo is slowly establishing itself in the foldable smartphone market with the introduction of the X Fold5, which is the follow-up to the X Fold3 Pro introduced last year. Instead of a full redesign, Vivo has instead concentrated on the details, with the same powerful chipset, camera system, and screens but enhanced durability, refined the hinge system, and extended battery life to allow more use.

The company has also increased the appeal of the device by reducing its price. However, are these considerate improvements enough to turn the X Fold5 into a serious rival of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7? Let’s dive into the review to find out.

An In-Depth Review on Vivo X Fold5

Great news to the foldable fans! Vivo X Fold5 has finally been unveiled, and it is the most premium foldable experience with significant improvements. Keeping the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Zeiss-powered triple cameras, and beautiful AMOLED displays, Vivo has made the device more durable, stylish, and fitted with a huge 6000mAh battery to be used longer. This review will discuss its performance, the quality of the camera, its display excellence, battery life, and usability. And we will show the Vivo X Fold5 price in Bangladesh and discover whether it is the foldable to purchase in 2025.

The Vivo X Fold5 comes in a high-end matte‑black box with Zeiss branding and a circular pattern reminiscent of the smartphone camera design. In the box, you get the phone, a powerful 80 W fast charger, USB-A to USB-C cable, SIM-ejector tool, warranty documentation, and a sophisticated snap-on faux-leather protective case already applied with a screen protector. This carefully chosen, thoughtful set means you are ready to go, as soon as you open the box.

Design & Build Quality

The Vivo X Fold5 inherits the high-end design DNA of the X Fold3 Pro but with significant improvements that make it more beautiful and practical. The device is very light and compact at 217 grams and 9.2mm when folded. Flip it open and it is an extra thin 4.3mm, thinner than most of the high-end flagship devices and much more comfortable to hold in your hand over long durations. Although this is a slim body, Vivo has not sacrificed durability. The hinge is designed to last through 6,00,000 folds and unfolds a 25 percent increase over the previous model and feels solid enough to give you confidence in using it in daily life.

In my testing the phone has been handled regularly, accidentally dropped on the couch, and even sat on when stuffed in a back pocket, with no creak or flex. A lot of this strength can be attributed to the sturdy hinge mechanism and second generation Armour glass protection which is aided by gap-filling glue technology. These improvements, combined, help the phone achieve an IP58 and IP59 rating, which makes it highly resistant to both water and dust, at least as of now in India, the highest of any foldable.

The Vivo also comes with a protective case of textured leather finish that covers the hinge which is a classy addition to the overall protection. But the glossy edges of the phone are somewhat slippery, so it is difficult to open it with one hand in a short time. A matte finish would have provided more grip and less smudges of fingerprints.

The circular camera module is big and provides the device with a unique appearance at the back. It sticks out quite visibly, but the elevated design doubles as a natural point of grip, and is comfortable to hold. It is also used in ensuring the phone is steady on flat surfaces. The fingerprint scanner built into the power button on the right side is quick and accurate, and the second shortcut button on the top edge is useful to have to get to apps or features quickly. All in all, the X Fold5 is a stylish, durable, and practical device, with which foldable build quality will be hard to compete.

Display

The Vivo X Fold5 has two beautiful AMOLED screens, an 8.03-inch inner display and 6.53-inch outer cover display. The two panels feature thin, even bezels and can reach up to 120Hz refresh rate with LTPO technology, which allows them to dynamically scale to as low as 1Hz to save battery life. They are both HDR10+ certified and Dolby Vision calibrated, offering bright images with deep black, high contrast, and realistic colour representation. Even the colours can be fine tuned by the user to their preference making the viewing experience even better.

Another advantage is brightness, and both displays can reach a high level of 4,500 nits, providing great visibility even in direct sunlight. Combined with sharp resolutions (2,480 x 2,200 pixels on the inner screen and 2,748 x 1,172 pixels on the cover display), the clarity and sharpness are also excellent at all angles. The selfie cameras are also discreetly punched through the panels of both devices, and do not affect usability.

The non-standard aspect ratios of 21:9 on the cover and 4:3.55 on the main display can however create layout and scaling problems on some apps such as Instagram or YouTube where it may result in black bars or cropped content when zoomed in. This is not so much a hardware issue as an app optimisation issue.

Vivo has included capabilities such as continuity between the outer and inner screens, so that when one switches to the other, the task is not interrupted. Moreover, the crease on the main display is not very visible, which adds to an immersive viewing experience. On the whole, the X Fold5 offers one of the best and visually stunning displays in the foldable category.

Camera & Video

The Vivo X Fold5 comes with a competent triple rear camera module, comprising a 50MP Sony IMX921 OIS main camera, a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide one, and a 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS telephoto lens with 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom. This arrangement, which is co-engineered with ZEISS, seeks to provide better colour precision and close-up shots under various lighting conditions. Though primary sensor images are crisp and have a lot of detail, they tend to be on the oversaturated side by default, creating more punchy colours that are not necessarily accurate to life. Fortunately, the camera application provides several filters, among which there is also a Zeiss mode, which produces more natural colours, but with a bit more exposure and reduced contrast.

Daylight Photo:

The X Fold5 works well in daylight photography, being even better than the Galaxy Z Fold7 in detail and sharpness. Its dynamic range may however be problematic at times, with shadows being crushed and losing the finer gradations.

Low-light Photo:

The camera has a very decent control over flare, noise reduction and the ability to produce visually correct scenes in low light situations. That notwithstanding, the Z Fold7 maintains an advantage in terms of providing clearer and more balanced night-mode results.

The ultra-wide camera is reliable and has natural coloring, and the lens is less prone to edge distortion than most foldables because of its smaller field of view. Although the Galaxy Z Fold7 has a broader frame, the results of Vivo are good in maintaining the shadows and the overall balance.

Another X Fold5 highlight is its portrait photography at 50mm (2.2x zoom) where the level of detail is very good, and the bokeh is naturally pleasing. Nevertheless, the skin tones tend to be reddish and a bit overly bright, when the Galaxy Z Fold7 has a more natural colour reproduction and edge detection.

In the case of selfies, the Vivo X Fold5 has two cameras on the cover and main screens, and the pictures are sharp and well-detailed. Where Samsung has an advantage with its foldable edges, though, is exposure control, where it does not blow out highlights.

Video recording is also flexible and can support up to 8K at 30fps. Practically, 4K at 60fps is more stable, has correct colours, and smooth shots, which is why it is the best option to consider by most people. In general, the Vivo X Fold5 might not be able to outperform the camera-centric flagship phones but it establishes a new benchmark in terms of imaging in foldable smartphones.

Performance & Software

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is at the core of the Vivo X Fold5, the same chipset found in the last X Fold3 Pro. It remains strong and fast but is not as strong as the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite found on competing flagships, resulting in lower scores on benchmarking sites such as AnTuTu and Geekbench. Thermal throttling could also be observed when prolonged stress tests were conducted, where performance would decrease to about 30 percent of maximum performance even though a large vapour chamber and graphite cooling system was present.

With that being said, X Fold5 is not meant to be a gaming powerhouse, but it is quite productive, and it succeeds in this regard. Combined with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, the device is capable of multitasking, file transferring, and switching between apps. The 8.03-inch inner display is like a small tablet and is therefore easy to use when checking spreadsheets, editing documents and checking emails. The phone was responsive and smooth in day to day usage despite the multiple tasks running.

Vivo x fold5 performance software image

The gaming performance is not bad as well, and such games as BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Real Racing 3 run well on medium graphics. It does not generate a lot of heat and the average increase in temperature was only 3-4 degrees Celsius when playing long hours, which is a good choice in case of casual users.

The software side of the X Fold5 comes with FunTouch OS 15 running on Android 15. Vivo has introduced foldable‑specific features, such as Origin Workbench, with the ability to have up to five active windows on the primary display to provide true desktop‑like multitasking. It is very helpful but is not turned on by default and needs to be turned on separately in Settings, which is not very intuitive. Conventional modes such as tent mode and fold-to-split are also back in addition to AI-supported photo editing, live captions, and call transcription.

Vivo offers four years of Android updates and five years of security patches, which is good but is not as good as Samsung and Google, who offer seven-year support. Nevertheless, the X Fold5 is one of the most productive foldables to work on, thanks to a combination of hardware efficiency, considerate multitasking capabilities, and productivity‑oriented software.

Battery & Charger

Vivo X Fold5 has a huge 6,000mAh battery, the biggest in any foldable smartphone. Vivo has a dual‑layer anode silicone-carbon battery that is designed to reduce degradation during repeated charge cycles, providing consistent long-term performance. Real-life performance, the phone comfortably lasts up to a day and a half of mixed multitasking, web browsing, streaming, and social media. Battery life is also impressive considering that the device has a large display (8 inches).

During the testing, the X Fold5 used approximately 28% of its battery after playing BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Real Racing 3 games for 30 minutes each, but only 4 percent was used after 30 minutes of streaming YouTube. Despite the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 being a bit more optimised in this regard by comparison, the X Fold5 is still providing very good longevity relative to its category.

vivo x fold5 battery charging image

In terms of charging, Vivo is very impressive as it supports 80W FlashCharge, which means that the phone can be charged 20 to 100% in 38 minutes when using the supplied adapter. The gadget also features 40W wireless charging, which is an added convenience to users who would like to top up their phones without cables. All in all, the battery and charging capabilities are making the X Fold5 a very reliable phone to power users.

Vivo X Fold5 price in Bangladesh

Vivo X Fold5 is available in 3 unofficial variants in the Bangladesh market. The base variant price in Bangladesh is BDT 140,000 (Unofficial) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The second variant is priced at BDT 150,000 (Unofficial) for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The last variant is priced at BDT 160,000 (Unofficial) for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The Vivo X Fold5 is a good value proposition, particularly against similarly spec-ed foldables in the local market, to professionals and power users in Bangladesh who want a versatile productivity-centric foldable experience.

Final Word

Vivo X Fold5 is a well-designed phone with two lively screens and a flexible set of Zeiss-calibrated cameras that makes it a good competitor in the foldable phone market. Its huge 6,000mAh battery and fast charging are other features that make it attractive, and software that is productivity-oriented enhances multitasking. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is not the newest, but in real-world use, performance is smooth. The X Fold5 has a competitive price in Bangladesh, which makes it a great value proposition to professionals that want a top-quality foldable experience.
