Samsung Galaxy A37 has a minimalist design in the box, which is practical and shows the recent minimalist design of Samsung. The handset itself, a Type-C to Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and simple documentation are included to get you started.

Design & Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy A37 is not a stranger to the familiarity of the clean and boxy design with slightly rounded corners so comfortable to hold over time. The frame is slightly curved on the side that provides a slight grip that I found helpful in my everyday use. The triple-camera module is neatly positioned vertically and in a pill shape at the back of the device giving it a modern but subtle appearance.

Aesthetically, Samsung has a variety of soft color choices, such as Graygreen, Charcoal, White and Light Violet. The finishes are not glitzy but elegant, which must attract the user with minimal and high-end appearance.

The Galaxy A37 is where durability is concerned. It is available with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and the back, which is not very common at this level. With an IP68 rating, the phone is dustproof and can withstand an exposure of up to 1.5 meters to water in 30 minutes.

Display

In the front, Samsung Galaxy A37 has a big screen of 6.7 inches with FHD+ Super AMOLED and 120Hz refresh rate, and it mostly meets the expectations of Samsung to have a great screen. Be it on the apps or on the platforms such as YouTube or Prime Video, the panel provides a plethora of rich colors, sharp details, and profound contrast, which makes daily viewing enjoyable.

The refresh rate is high, which makes the animations in the UI smooth and when I was using it, the majority of the apps were always running at 120Hz. Although you can not adjust refresh rates per application, the entire fluidity is impressive.

The display is brightest at 1900 nits, and the display is very visible, both indoors and in shady areas. Nevertheless, in bright sunlight, the readability may decrease slightly, particularly with dark mode apps, but otherwise, it can be used in the majority of cases.

The phone also has Gorilla Glass Victus+, which provides the phone with durability on the front side. With that said, the bezels are not absolutely symmetrical, which somewhat dilutes a rather high-quality appearance.

Altogether, the Galaxy A37 provides a quality display experience, focusing more on the smoothness and visual appearance, which is perfect to consume the media and use it in everyday life.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A37 is similar to the previous camera configuration, with 50MP primary, 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro lenses, as well as a 12MP front camera. The hardware has not changed significantly, but overall, it seems to be a stable experience in daily photography.

Daylight Photo:

The phone impresses with its rapid shutter speed, particularly in capturing moving objects, and even when taking photos in a slightly adverse environment such as wind, as the initial few shots are taken. The main camera provides very sharp and bright images in the daytime, but with a distinct bias towards saturated greens and reds. This gives photos a vibrant appearance especially in taking pictures of nature or flowers. The level of detail is good, and the dynamic range is balanced, highlighting and shadows are retained.

The default focal length of 23mm offers a slightly broader view at 1x, and is suitable for landscapes and general photography. But when zoomed to 2x, the images lose a bit of sharpness and finer details are not as sharp as they should be.

Low-light Photo:

The Galaxy A37 is able to capture darker shades in the sky, in low-light situations, rather naturally, which makes the photos look more realistic. Noise and grain are visible in dark places, however, which has a minor impact on the overall level of clarity.

The ultrawide camera on the other hand is a compromise. It tends to give more boring tones and has colder color transitions and the details are softer, which is characteristic of an 8MP sensor. The macro camera works well in bright conditions, where it can be used to take close-up shots, but it needs a steady hand.

Portrait shots are good with regard to correct skin colors and natural colors, but edge detection may be more sophisticated. The 12MP selfie camera on the front provides well-balanced and contrasty images with highlights that are better than anticipated.

In the case of video, the front and rear cameras can record 4K at 30fps, providing steady and acceptable-quality video to be used casually.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 is powered by the Exynos 1480 chipset, which is a 4nm process, with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, under the hood. Paperwise, it is a good configuration to a mid-range device, though it does not strive to reach the top of benchmark charts- and this is seen in the real-world comparisons.

The phone is smooth and responsive in most activities in its daily use. It is mostly fluid whether it is navigating through the UI, switching between apps or even performing quick actions such as launching apps using shortcuts. However, I did experience some slight stutters as I swiped through apps such as Spotify and Reddit, but nothing too serious.

In terms of gaming, the Galaxy A37 offers an average, but not outstanding experience. Games such as Call of Duty: Mobile can be played at high settings with no problems in frame rates, whereas BGMI is playable at HDR settings, albeit not at the maximum possible frame rates. The thermals are also controlled and the device remains cool enough even when it is used over a long period.

Software-wise, the phone is powered by Android 16 and One UI 8.5, which is also one of the greatest advantages of Samsung. The interface is smooth, rich in features and easy to use with lots of customization features and handy features.

In general, the Galaxy A37 is oriented more towards the daily performance and elegant software experience than pure power, which is why it is the right device to use by ordinary people but not by those who are interested in performance.

AnTuTu Benchmark Score & Geekbench Score

The Samsung Galaxy A37 performs well in benchmark tests, providing a reasonable performance of the middle range, although it is not intended to take over the charts. The device has a score of about 1 million+ points on AnTuTu benchmark, which is a good, but not a class-leading, performance level.

In Geekbench, the Galaxy A37 scores about 1,158 in single-core and 3,401 in multi-core benchmarks, which is a significant improvement over its predecessor, but still below performance-oriented competitors.

In real life, these figures translate to fluid day to day use and reliable multitasking, but not brute power. The phone is obviously optimized to be consistent and efficient, so it can be used in everyday life, but benchmark lovers or frequent gamers might not be as competitive.

Battery & Charger

The Samsung Galaxy A37 has a 5,000mAh, which might not be considered as a large battery when compared to some of its competitors who have higher battery capacities. But in the actual sense of use, there is surprisingly good performance of the phone. When using the device, I was able to get more than a full day of use, and the screen-on time went up to 9 hours during some of the cycles.

I spent my day scrolling through social media, watching YouTube and Prime Video, chatting on WhatsApp, and using the camera every now and then. The battery was able to keep up with features such as mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and location services, which were on most of the time, without making it anxious.

On the charging side, the device is capable of fast charging 45W over the wire, which is fairly fast, but not the fastest in its category. Another thing to consider is that a charger might not be provided in the box.

All in all, Galaxy A37 does not lead in battery capacity, but provides a stable performance and convenient charging rates to the average user.
