The new Galaxy A17 is a step up to the recent A16 5G by Samsung, and is a silent addition to the company's mid-range line of products. The A17 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, protection with Gorilla Glass Victus, and the powerful processor Exynos 1330 in an attempt to balance the durability and the performance.

It has a triple camera configuration of 50MP, 8GB of RAM and a long-lasting battery with a capacity of 5,000mAh making it accessible to daily use with a touch of luxury. But is it able to shine in a saturated mid-range market or does it rest on the well-worn path? Let’s find out.

An In-Depth Review on Samsung Galaxy A17

Samsung has launched Galaxy A17, a middle market smartphone that is designed to balance in terms of its performance, durability and cost. With a 6.7 inch super amoled screen, an Exynos 1330 processor, and a triple camera with 50MP, it is set to offer trustworthy daily usage. A17 has 8GB RAM, 256GB storage and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, making it a viable choice in 2025. In this review, we discuss its price in Bangladesh, major features, benefits and disadvantages.

Box Content

This is what you get inside the Samsung Galaxy A17 box:

  • Samsung Galaxy A17
  • USB Type-C cable
  • User manual
  • SIM tool

A17 Samsung Galaxy stores but makes it simple and practical inside the retail box. Besides the handset, customers will receive a USB Type-C charging cable, SIM ejector tool and basic documentation such as quick start guide and warranty card. Similar to the majority of the latest Galaxy A-series models, the package lacks a charging adapter and earphones, with Samsung carrying on with its environmentally friendly approach to packaging. It is not much, but the supplied contents are the minimum, and users can select compatible accessories individually to follow their requirements.

Design & Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy A17 is based on the design principles of the other Galaxy A-siblings; it is opting to be as subtle as possible and as functional as possible. It has a flat back that has slightly curved sides, rounded corners and rings of triple cameras each positioned separately, repeating the appearance of the more expensive devices in the family. The camera set up is minimalistic and clean and makes the phone appear modern. Samsung has placed the volume and power buttons on an elevated area on the right hand side and doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. This allows the buttons to be easy to find and use without dropping the phone even on one hand.

The handset has Gorilla Glass Victus on the front with the back being constructed of glass fiber and a durable plastic frame. This combination is useful in the aspect of balancing hardness with portability. Although the phone has a 6.7-inch screen, it does not seem heavy, as its weight is evenly distributed, and its profile is slim. The touch is comfortable and it is easy to hold and reach various portions of the screen which makes it a practical device to spend a lot of time browsing or streaming and playing games.

Regarding colors, the Galaxy A17 is offered in smooth finishes that enhance the design, but the glossy back surface can be quickly covered by the fingerprints and smudges, just like in the case of the A16. There will be the USB Type-C port, speaker grille and SIM tray that are well positioned at the bottom. There is one bottom-firing speaker as the device comes, but that produces the sound clearly and loudly, and stereo speakers would have taken the device to the next level. In general, Galaxy A17 is well balanced in terms of durability, appearance, and comfort, which should be considered a good competitor within its price range.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy A17 is fitted with a 6.7-inch display, which features Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Although it does not drive the same 120Hz that is found on other competitors, the panel is nonetheless smooth when it comes to scrolling, browsing, and social media. Colours are lively and vivid and contrast levels are good enough to make the entire visual experience indoors engaging. Viewing videos and playing games is also immersive and the AMOLED display gives justice to darker scenes; creating deep blacks.

Outdoors visibility is where the display has a slight stumbling block. Samsung has limited brightness to approximately 800 nits, and this is enough to be used casually, but too small to be used in strong sunlight. In our tests when it was sunny, the text and images were readable though they had no clarity and sharpness as would be observed in the more expensive models with brighter panels. There is also a decent HDR performance, which has small brightness levels, which influence dynamic range and stream HDR-supported content. Films and programs in bright rooms will lose some detail in highlight areas and this can be disappointing to users who prefer a more film-like experience.

On the one hand, the flat-screen design combined with cushions against scratches and drops made with Gorilla Glass Victus is a guarantee of its durability. The slim edges of the screen make it appear contemporary with the highest screen to body ratio and at the same time it does not make it appear too large. The display works well in its day-to-day applications like browsing, watching YouTube or playing some non-intensive form of games. Although it does not provide flagship-level brightness or HDR output, the Samsung Galaxy A17 provides a good and well-balanced viewing experience to its mid-range price range.

Camera

In photography, the Samsung Galaxy A17 continues with a triple-camera design with a 50MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2mp macro sensor. The mix is very common in Samsung in the mid-range market, and the dedicated ultra-wide shooter continues to offer the A17 some advantage over the rivals that continue using dual-lens configurations. The camera experience is to be tailored to both the ease of use and versatility, with effects that are varied, depending on the lighting environment.

Daylight Photo:

During the day the Galaxy A17 has richer images in a warmer colour than its predecessor which has a cooler image. Dynamic range is good, and both detail in highlights and shadow is recorded. The 50MP sensor can cope with small textures in moderation, but sharpness sometimes falls at the frame edges. The A17 stands on its own, offering more balanced colours than similarly priced competitors such as the Realme Narzo 70x and Vivo Y38, but not as detailed due to the higher-resolution sensors in its rivals. The ultra-wide optic also preserves a similarity with the main shooter in color profile, but the sharpness is evidently worse.

Low-light Photo:

There is a performance of low light which is modest. The A17 takes sharper pictures than the Moto G85 with night mode, yet the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite is in a higher position regarding the detail preservation. Photos are smooth, some noise in the shadows is observable. To its credit, Samsung processing is successful in making colors look more natural without over-saturation of colors like competitors do. The reds and skin tones are more lifelike than the rival devices and this makes it a good option to users who value realistic colors over enhanced brightness.

The portrait mode has the same drawbacks that we have observed with most of the budget and mid-range smart phones. There is inconsistency of edge detection, and blurring of hair and complex edges is visible. Nevertheless, the color reproduction of the A17 makes the skin tones look more natural in comparison with the Moto G85. Its front camera is 13MP and produces sufficient selfies with a reasonably good amount of detail, but, similar to the rear, sharpness is intermittent.

Video wise, the Galaxy A17 can go up to 1080p at 30fps. The video is smooth under bright conditions due to the digital stabilization but has difficulty in low-light conditions with noticeable noise and motion artifacts. This is not an instrument of the videographer, but it is sufficient in the case of informal taking and social media content.

Performance & Software

Samsung Galaxy A17 comes with the Samsung in-house Exynos 1330 chipset manufactured on the 5nm process combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device is reliable and can be used on a daily basis and it can support social media browsing and messaging, and video streaming without any instances of hiccups. The transition between many applications is usually trouble free, but there are instances of stuttering when accessing numerous apps at the same time. At that price, performance seems to be well-balanced, which is why it is suitable to ordinary users, but not those who use it to satisfy their power-hungry requirements.

In the case of gaming, the Galaxy A17 is capable of running such popular games as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty, and Asphalt 9 at medium settings with steady frame rates. Casual players will have a good time with the experience but long gameplay exposes the thermal constraints of the phone. The handset can get a bit warmed after approximately 30 minutes of play and this may affect comfort, but did not have a major effect on performance. The A17 is not constructed to be a heavy-duty gaming phone compared to the phones in this line with more gaming-oriented processors, yet it is serviceable.

samsung galaxy a17 performance software image

Software wise, the Galaxy A17 runs on Android 15 with Samsung One UI 7 over it. Its interface is also comfortable and provides easy movement, well-designed and is even similar to the more expensive Galaxy products. The fact that Samsung commits to software updates is also an astonishing one - the A17 is provided with a six years of major OS and security updates, uncommon in this segment, and serves as an added advantage to long-term users.

Similar to the A16, the A17 lacks Galaxy AI features that are found in more expensive models, but it still uses NFC, Quick Share and Samsung connected ecosystem. A few pre-installed applications, such as the suite of Microsoft, should also be expected by users. In general, the Galaxy A17 provides high-quality performance and one of the greatest software guarantees in the category.

AnTuTu Benchmark & GeekBench Score

Samsung Galaxy A17 performs well when compared to its class as it is run on the Exynos 1330 chipset. The benchmark outcomes paint a better picture of its ability.

The Galaxy A17 scored 4,73,905 in the AnTuTu benchmark v10 test, being above 69 percent in the smartphone benchmark database. This is a good middle range result, which is adequate in daily activities and moderate multitasking.

Results of Geekbench 6.4 indicate that the Galaxy A17 achieves 942 in single-core and 2,137 in multi-core. These statistics are in tandem with the projected performance of the Exynos 1330 as it is efficient in regular applications and multi-tasking cases.

The device scored 1,318 points on the OpenCL test, which demonstrates its potential to handle casual gaming and other activities that require a lot of graphics, at moderate settings.

Battery & Charger

The Samsung Galaxy A17 has a 5,000mAh battery which gives credible long lasting performance of one full day of normal usage. The device played competitive in terms of its screen-on time: in our PCMark battery test, it provided approximately 10 hours, which is competitive in its mid-range market. To perform light activities such as browsing, social media, and video streaming the A17 can easily go through a full day, with 20-25 percent of the battery life occasionally remaining in the evening.

Strength Multimedia use Multimedia is power-efficient as it requires only 4-5 percent of battery to stream a 30-minute YouTube video. A 90-minute gaming session with such games as PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9 on medium-level settings depleted the battery by approximately 25 percent. Although the phone can support moderate gaming sessions, heavy users might still require to recharge at least once throughout the day in order to remain powered during long gaming.

samsung galaxy a17 battery charging image

Samsung still practices its tradition of environmentally friendly packaging, meaning that the retail box does not come with a charger. With a 25W fast charger, the Galaxy A17 will reach 20 to 100 percent within about 80 minutes. The charging speed is not the best in its category, but it is average and can maintain downtime down to a minimum. Altogether, the battery and charging solution of the Galaxy A17 make the phone a reliable choice among the users who value long-lasting performance without having to recharge it on a regular basis.

Samsung Galaxy A17 price in Bangladesh

The Samsung Galaxy A17 is placed as a middle-range product in Bangladesh, which has balanced features and performance at a reasonable price. The Samsung Galaxy A17 price in Bangladesh is BDT 28,000 (Unofficial) for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The A17 has an advantage over its competitors in the same segment in its ability to provide a powerful display, a well-equipped camera set, and a good battery life, which slightly surpasses its similarly priced competitors such as the Realme Narzo 70x and Vivo Y38.

Final Word

The Samsung Galaxy A17 is mid-range with a well-rounded set of features and includes a vivid 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, a powerful 50MP triple camera system, and a substantial 5,000mAh battery. The Exynos 1330 chipset it comes with is capable of dealing with daily chores with ease and long term software support is an additional bonus. The device may not perform well in sunlight conditions and in low-light shots and in long gaming periods, but nonetheless makes it a worthy and fashionable option. The Galaxy A17 is a good choice for users who want durability, balanced performance, and a feature-rich smartphone that does not cost more than Tk 30,000 in Bangladesh.
