It features a plastic back and, as such, is slightly less expensive than phones that have glass or metal backs and yet it still doesn't offer the premium in-hand feel of a higher-priced phone. However, plastic is not all evil; it is tougher to crack and scratch with normal drops, and it is lighter than a glass back would be.

You get three color options to choose from: Silver Glare, Titanium Glare, and Lavender Glare, each with a subtle shimmer that adds a bit of personality without trying too hard.

The catch is that its resolution is HD+ (720x1570 pixels) or approximately 254 ppi. In short, all text and fine details will not look as crisp as they will on a Full HD+ screen. Those who read a lot on their phone or enjoy rich and crisp visuals will likely notice the softness.

Where the display really shines, though, is the refresh rate. It scrolls smoothly and effortlessly at 144Hz, making it feel snappier than normal 60Hz phones when scrolling through things like your browser. Brightness is 1200 nits, so it will be easy to read the screen in bright sunlight.

It has two Cortex-A76 performance cores running at 2.4GHz, six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It is a 64-bit chip that is used for general applications, not for high performance computing.

Well, in real-world use, that translates to being able to use the P4R for the basics with ease, to make calls, send messages and socialise, to navigate the web, and to do some light multi-tasking. The ceiling for it is in games and applications that require more demanding graphics and/or games. Some popular games such as BGMI can be played, but don't expect high framerates or ultra settings as this chip was designed to be a casual gaming chip, not a high-performance one.

Software-wise, the phone is provided with Android 16 and Realme UI 7.0 – which is definitely one of the phone's selling points. It's user-friendly, sleek, and intuitive, featuring all sorts of convenient AI features such as photo editing tools, an AI assistant, and smart application management all in one. Animations and usual navigation are snappy, despite its limited hardware, with software optimizations that make the best of it.

Nevertheless, it's advisable to not get too high hopes for the update aspect, as with the majority of budget handsets, the P4R will not receive the longest software support duration, so if extended software support is a very important thing to you, then that's something you'd want to consider.

The P4R is primarily designed for power users and hardcore gamers, but for everyday use and casual gaming, will perform nicely and be a pleasure to use day after day.

AnTuTu Bench & Geekbench Score

When used regularly, it will last a day and a half, possibly even two days, it will last sufficiently long depending on your usage.

Charging is via USB Type-C 2.0 and also supports 45W fast charging (PPS and PD/QC support as well). That's a pretty decent speed based on the huge size of the battery, so you can expect a full charge in about two hours, but that's not too quick, especially when you consider how long the battery lasts after you are done.As with all modern smartphones, the battery is not removable so that's no problem.
