What I noticed the most about the phone was how bright the display could be. Since the screen is bright enough to reach 700 nits, I could easily view content even when driving under the sun.

Nevertheless, I could see that HD+ resolution wasn’t as crisp as a display with a higher resolution. The text and images were still readable, but Full HD screens make them sharper. The IPS LCD panel gave good colors, but it could not match the punchy and deep blacks found in AMOLED displays.

Photos taken in poor lighting conditions were pleasing to the eye. With a front camera of 8MP and an LED flash, you could take clear pictures of yourself, even when it was dark. Although the back camera did well in dim light, its pictures weren’t as clear and bright as those taken by the front camera.

I often used the HDR mode and continuous shooting feature to take pictures of lively scenes. I was able to capture clean and steady videos in 1080p with a frame rate of 30fps for casual vlogging or saving memories. Since there is no optical image stabilization, videos could be a little shaky whenever there is movement.

The portrait mode allowed users to select from 1x and 2x zoom, creating interesting depth-of-field in photographs. The depth sensor didn’t really serve a purpose, but it made the device stand out due to its sleek design.

However, at this price, I did find that the system sometimes hesitated while switching between several heavy applications. The minor lag was noticeable when I was using the laptop for many tasks at once, but it did not have a big negative impact.

It isn’t the quickest device, but it safely charged the battery from almost empty to full in less than two hours. Because I could charge fast without losing much capacity, I did not have long breaks between fights.

I found it very convenient that the phone could charge other devices just by being connected through a cable. So, I was able to use the City 100 as a backup battery in emergencies and increase its usefulness.
