Testing the Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus was a plunge into the world of a new generation of smart phones in terms of both design and functionality. Ever since I took it out of its box, the phone with its sleek design and high-quality screen impressed me.

The process of moving between apps was quite slick, and the camera generated detail-rich shots that made me reconsider what I should expect of a flagship-range phone. The only thing that was impressive was the manner in which Huawei managed to strike the balance between power and style without affecting its battery life.

It was not a normal phone, it was more of the smart phone made to suit the modern day digital life. This is my real experience of using Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus.

An In-Depth Review on Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus is one of the flagship smartphones designed with an emphasis on photography and high-end users. It has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen, a Leica-driven 50 MP camera system, 100W wired, and 80W wireless charging.

It is powered by Kirin 9020 chip and HarmonyOS 4.2 with satellite messaging, but it does not have Google apps but it is good in design, durability, and imaging. Find specs, pros, cons and Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus price in Bangladesh here.

When you slide out the classy box of the Huawei pura 80 pro plus, you get everything well organized to make the initial experience with the gadget. Tucked on top of it is the phone itself, then a solid 100W charger and a matching USB-C cable.

It is completed with a translucent protective case, SIM-eject tool, and a thin instruction manual with a warranty card. This all-in-one package makes you prepared to be unboxed to shoot beautiful shots within a blink of an eye no need to do any extras hunt.

Design & Build Quality

Even when I first held the Pura 80 Pro Plus, it was impossible to ignore its presence. The 6.8‑inch LTPO OLED screen curves slightly at the sides, providing a clear, in-depth impression with little interference of bezels. The second-generation Kunlun Glass used by Huawei coupled with a frame made of aerospace-grade aluminum provides the phone with an inspiring sturdiness without excessive weight.

The triangular camera design on the back of the phone, meanwhile, reflects the Mate 60 range, but something new has been added: glossy-glazed ceramic, or nano-tech glass, finishes, which are fingerprint-resistant and look great. The colors particularly the dazzling Glaze red and Emerald green are smooth and unique.

Remarkably, it weighs about 219 g in a well balanced and ergonomic package despite its carryings a 5700 mAh battery and advanced camera hardware. Its ruggedness is also supported by the IP68/IP69 rating.

The camera bump is indeed protruding but this makes the phone a little wobbly on flat surfaces and this can be a nuisance to users who love the flush finish. Also, the shiny ceramic is quite beautiful, but it feels a little bit slippery in the hands with no case.

Featuring its top-end materials, smooth lines, and perfect execution, the Pura 80 Pro Plus fulfills the Huawei promise of both sophistication and durability due to the camera protrusion and shiny back that may make one want to wear a case.

Display

I was really impressed by the 6.8-inch LTPO OLED on the Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus (Review). The resolution of 2848 1276 (460 ppi) makes the colors vivid and punchy with cinema-like fidelity achieved by using a palette of 1.07-billion colors and full P3 gamut. Scrolling is nearly enchanted-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate goes between 1 Hz of idle and smooth 120 Hz of work, and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz enables witchcraft-like control.

A maximum of 3000nits in peak brightness is jaw-dropping, so outdoor readability is possible, even with intense sunlight. And yes, the Kunlun Glass 2 protection comes with strength and scratch resistance.

The HDR10 Vivid mode enhanced movies and games to life, the blacks were deep and there was a solid contrast during extended use. Still, I experienced that the refresh rate of the screen is hardly lower than 60 Hz even when the phone is resting, which may have a minor effect on battery savings. Also, even though DC dimming is a blessing to sensitive eyes, there may be faint flicker perceived by some users at the dimmest brightness.

Its presentation is an audiovisual success that is colorful, interactive, and long-lasting. The only actual compromise is the not as aggressive refresh-rate down shift and potential PWM flicker when it is set to low brightness but few will have a reason to complain.

Camera

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus camera gives you a feel of a small DSLR in your hand. The main 50MP 1-inch sensor of the camera with the variable aperture (f/1.6 to f/4.0) produces the unbelievable level of clarity in nearly every lighting environment. During the day, the pictures are natural and the dynamic range is great, and at night, the noise reduction in the sensor and with the help of the AI does miracles, as there is no overshoot in the shadows.

I was most impressed by the ability to manipulate depth of field by the use of the variable aperture. Be it shooting portraits with dramatic bokeh or moving to f/4 on sharper landscapes, the versatility was nothing but professional. The 48MP periscope telephoto lens of 4x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom was quite impressive in its reach. At 4x to 10x, the amount of detail retained was very good, but at more than 20x, the pictures were softer and shaky unless on a tripod.

The 40MP ultra-wide camera produced wide shots that were well balanced in edge-to-edge consistency, although the colors tended to be warmer than the primary sensor. The telephoto lens was fun to use as macro photography, but at super close distances focus hunting was occasionally frustrating.

Daylight Photo:

The main 50MP sensor also has a full potential in bright daylight images. Crisp and high in dynamic range, the user can create stunning depth-of-field effects ranging from bokeh-filled f/1.6 portraits to landscape-like f/4 sharpness. Ultra-wide shots are evenly exposed, but are slightly warmer in tone. A zoom of up to 4x telephoto provides clear framing using natural tones.

Low-light Photo:

Night capability is strong: night shots are impressive in their noise control and sharpness and color fidelity is maintained even in urban scenes. The periscope lens allows you to zoom into the night cityscapes, however, the autofocus fails above 20x, which can result in a less sharp picture. In low light some macro shots exhibit fine focus hunting, but on the whole night shots look bright and usable.

The 13MP ultra-wide front camera (f/2.0) takes clear selfies and the coverage is quite wide. Gyro-EIS makes video in 4K@30fps smooth, and HDR vivid mode produces bold and natural tones. Portraits are clear and have no much noise with correct skin tones in good lighting.

The video is on the Pura 80 Pro Plus side, it records at 60fps in 4K, and the stabilization was surprisingly smooth, even when walking. The video was sharp and had rich colors and performed well in low light. The super slow-motion 960fps mode was a welcome addition and works well, but suffers a little in dark conditions.

The camera bump is large, and the autofocus can find difficulty on the telephoto lens at maximum zoom. Also, although the image processing is spectacular, it may over saturate reds and greens in bright scenes.

The Pura 80 Pro Plus is among the finest camera phones I have ever used and has a lot of flexibility, fun and is incredibly powerful both with stills and video.

Performance & Software

Powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset with a 2.5 GHz high-performance core, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, the Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus provides buttery smoothness when performing daily tasks and AI-powered multitasking under the hood. In benchmarks, it achieves approximately 1.19 million AnTuTu points that are similar to the best mid-range flagships. Although it lags behind Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in graphic-intensive games, it is smooth in everyday tasks such as scrolling to split-screen to split.

HarmonyOS 4.2 (international EMUI 14.2) runs on software and offers an optimized interface with 120 Hz animations, Service Cards, Smart Device compatibility, and features such as Celia and Ark Engine. Other unique features such as floating windows and Super Device sync apps. According to users, there are more fast app loads fast by 20% and resource consumption reduced by 40% compared to the previous EMUI builds.

The lack of any Google Mobile Services that depend on AppGallery and APKs and occasionally need to be sideloaded might not be attractive to the international audience. Raw GPU performance is lacking in the Kirin 9020, and thus graphic-intensive games could potentially be played at lower settings

The Pura 80 Pro Plus is responsive, natural to use and it fits well in the ecosystem of HarmonyOS in everyday life. It is not the beast of hardcore gamers, and it lacks Google services, but it is a well-rounded performer, with good AI, and device synergy.

AnTuTu Benchmark & GeekBench Score

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus impressed me on practical testing with its power in terms of real-world performance. Through AnTuTu Benchmark v10, our unit scores an average of around 1,188,047 points, which also include decompositions of 369K in CPU, 283K in GPU, 318K in memory, and 217K in UX, making it well within the top 10 percent of smart phones worldwide. Elsewhere, we have heard of scores as high as 1.248 million, which confirms that it is ready in terms of hardware at flagship level.

GeekBench 6 tests indicate a single-core score of 1,619 and multi-core 5,159, indicating powerful all-purpose processing performance, which is perfect on heavy apps and multitasking.

Such scores result in a smooth user experience with app launches being speedy, multitasking being responsive and even games that are graphic-intensive run smoothly at medium settings. The Kirin 9020 lags behind the most current Snapdragon flagships in raw GPU performance, but in everyday use, I did not feel any noticeable deceleration.

The Pura 80 Pro Plus has AnTuTu and GeekBench scores in flagship territory, which means serious performance. It is not necessarily the highest-performing device in terms of gaming but it is rather a beast to the majority of users, particularly those that value camera, battery, and real-life responsiveness.

Battery & Charger

The Pura 80 Pro Plus is equipped with a powerful 5,700 mAh battery, Huawei's largest battery in this series, so it will last a long time in a day. Practically, it can comfortably run a day with an assorted workload, such as streaming, photography, and gaming.

The charging is an impressive 100W SuperCharge (6A USB-C cable included) and 80W wireless charging allows the device to be filled in a short time Huawei states 30 minutes is required to charge to 100 percent. Normal users usually experience  30 percent in 5 minutes, 60 percent in 15 and 90 percent in 30 minutes. Accessories can be charged using reverse wired (18W) and wireless charging.

The third-party setups that use a cable and charger that is not the original can often throttle to achieve peak speeds. There is also the slower charging rate when it reaches 80 percent to save the health of the battery and it is also susceptible to throttling in case you use the phone when charging.

The Pura 80 Pro Plus has ultra-large capacity and super-fast charging, which is designed to be ultra-endurable and ultra-fast. It is just important to use the official accessories and leave it to rest during charging to get the best outcomes.

Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus Price in Bangladesh

The Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus Bangladesh price in Bangladesh is BDT 155,000 (Unofficial) for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This is the pricing that takes into consideration the high-end features of this device, such as 5,700mAh battery capacity, 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging features, as well as triple cameras branded as Leica.

It should be mentioned that it is an unofficial price, because Huawei still has not officially launched the device in Bangladesh. Thus, it can be out of stock, the prices can change depending on retailers and importers. When buying, potential buyers must make sure that they buy products with good sources in order to prevent fake products.

Final Word

Huawei Pura 80 Pro Plus has flagship-level cameras, a beautiful screen, and long-lasting battery, all in a very nice design. Its software, HarmonyOS, is also quite snappy, although there are no Google services present, which can be off-putting. The only significant demerits are that the telephoto camera has some trouble focusing, and users will have to use the Huawei app ecosystem. In general, it is a potent, fashionable phone that is suited to photography enthusiasts who wish to explore something new besides what is common.
