It’s not that we didn’t have enough release in the first quarter of 2021. But it was continuing in the manner of 2020. There were almost no innovations, improvements or attractions that will catch the eyes of an experienced mobile buyer. It’s kind of a warning for the mobile industry altogether because once a gadget becomes boring, something else replaces it or organic sales growth starts to go down.
However, like many others, we were waiting for the Redmi Note series from Xiaomi. Xiaomi is rocking the low-mid and mid-range market with its Redmi Note series for at least three years in a row. This year they have reached a well-deserved milestone by releasing Redmi Note 10 and Redmi Note 10 Pro.
We were skeptical to be honest. We didn’t think that Xiaomi would dare to bring much improvement in the lower-budget segment like other brands since 2020 was a bad year for the phone makers altogether. It means less backup capital and also higher risk in case sales still don’t go up. But the Redmi Note 10 series completely came out of the box and made the blood of mobile fans flow once again. It is not by chance that Xiaomi became one of the best brands in the world within a very short period of time and they continue to prove themselves by staying one step ahead.
Redmi Note 10
What? IP53 certified dust and splash-resistant body for ৳19,999? Oh wait, there is more. They didn’t forget the Gorilla Glass on the front as more and more brands seem to forget about it lately. It’s a 3rd gen. glass. A Gorilla Glass 5 would be more satisfactory, but it’s not a big deal. However, the phone is not waterproof and it will be damaged when placed underwater. It is only splash-proof.
There is also some nice change in the design, especially in the back camera. It may not seem much but it’s quite important since it was slowly feeling like the new releases are the phones from a year ago and finally, we have a Super AMOLED display which completes a great first impression. There is one drawback and it is that the backside and the frame are made of plastic. It’s a disappointment for someone like us because we want smartphone companies to consider aluminum, glass or any other environment-friendly material for all of their new phones.
The 48 MP main camera supports 4K recording which is great. 5000 mAh battery comes with an impressive 33W Fast Charging facility. Xiaomi used a Snapdragon 678 chipset which is a fine mid-range chipset. The camera, battery and performance are significantly improved than last year’s Redmi Note 9. We also have advanced audio quality and stereo speakers.
Redmi Note 10 Pro
This one comes with a Gorilla Glass 5 front and back so, no compromise in build quality here. We also have an HDR10 and 120Hz refresh rate display which takes the game to a higher level. We have Xiaomi’s glorious 108MP main back camera here. The result should not be disappointed. The front camera quality is also slightly better than the Note 10.
There is an upgrade in the chipset. We have a Snapdragon 732G (8 nm) here. It is one of the best if not the best you can get in a mid-range phone. Even some of the high-mid range phones from renowned brands come with a less powerful chipset than this. There are 6 and 8 GB RAM variants of this device. We have Xiaomi’s smooth and optimized MIUI 12 on top of the latest Android 11. By all means, this is a 100% value-for-money device. It is also a much-needed release for the smartphone industry and Redmi Note 10 Pro will surely belong to one of the best releases of 2021.
