Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G teaser

Last week on 7th September 2023, Xiaomi officially released the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G smartphone for Bangladeshi consumers. There is one single version of the phone available right now which is 8/256 GB for ৳37,999.

The device was first released on 1st November last year in the international market. So, it’s been about 10 months already and some of you may already know this phone from the unofficial market or reviewers. The first question is, is it still relevant for a fast-paced smartphone market after so many months?

It is still relevant. There is Android 12 and no Android 13 out of the box which is a plain drawback at this point. But Android 13 should be available and maybe Android 14 as well at some point. There is 5G and a strong 6 nm MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset which ranks 53 in Nanoreview chipset ranking as of August 2023. it is above Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (Rank #57) and Snapdragon 768G (rank #68) just to give to give you an idea. So, the performance is more than sufficient. You get a 67W fast charger to charge from 0 to 100% in about 46 minutes. These are pretty fine deals.

The Full HD OLED display has up to 120Hz refresh rate with plus features such as Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. There is Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and a glass back and IP53-certified dust and water resistance. The camera looks good. There is OIS, a Sony IMX766 sensor, an ultrawide lens and 4K recording for the back camera. The front camera is decent as well.

Overall, if you are looking for a high mid-range official 5G phone in Bangladesh right now, this can still be an adequate choice.
