Bangladesh Government has launched a new sector for illegal mobile phone verification which is called National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR). This system is launched by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the main goal of the new NEIR system is to select all illegal phones which have come to Bangladesh without paying taxes and maintain the legality of Bangladesh. These phones have been brought from the grey market or cloned/stolen devices. So to stop the illegal system Bangladesh Government took a step on the first day of the new year (1 January 2026).
How does the System Work?
The NEIR(National Equipment Identity Register) has launched by the Bangladesh Government in early 2026 for blocking all the illegal, cloned and stolen devices. The system will work according to the National Identity Card verification of Bangladesh. The NEIR operates by cross-referencing three specific pieces of data whenever a phone attempts to connect to a mobile network like:
At first, they will check your 15 digits IMEI of your mobile phone.
Then, they will check your phone number or SIM
Also this system is able to check the illegal phone by (IMSIThe unique identification associated with your SIM card). And all things going on National Identity Card verification.
How to check your phone’s verification status instantly?
Take your phone’s IMEI Code by dialing (*#06#)
Go to the website “neir.btrc.gov.bd.” or Send massage in the (16002)
by typing KYD Space IMEI Code your phone any IMEI codes.
And 16002 will make you know about your verification status by providing a reply message.
