Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 teaser

Intro

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 has been one of the most successful smartphone releases in Bangladesh for over 15 months. This phone remained the number one most viewed smartphone on our website every single week since then except for just one or two weeks as far as we can remember. But everything has its time especially, in the smartphone market, consumers are looking for updates a bit more frequently.

Price

So Xiaomi Bangladesh finally introduced the new Redmi Note series smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 12. This phone was already released at the end of the march in a few countries but the Bangladeshi consumers had to wait a bit longer for this phone to arrive in the market. Redmi Note 12 is priced at ৳19,999 and currently only the 4/128 GB model is available.

Design & Build

The design has a classic Redmi look. It looks butter smooth, and classy as we know Xiaomi. The back camera design looks more modern and up-to-date compared to the Note 11. It has that minimalistic elegant taste. On the front, we have a center punch-hole display as usual. It’s just 7.9 mm thin. There is a Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection and IP53 certified dust and splash-resistant body. Overall, it’s a good deal and an update in the design but not much has changed in terms of build quality compared to its previous generation.

Display

The display is a bigger 6.67 inches Full HD+ AMOLED one with an excellent viewing experience. Xiaomi has used a Samsung AMOLED display which is offering better quality than a regular Xiaomi AMOLED screen. Now we also have an upgraded 120 Hz refresh rate instead of 90Hz and 1200 nits max brightness from 1000 nits. So, we are seeing some fair updates here compared to last year’s Note 11.

Camera

The camera section remained more or less the same. We have a 50 MP main back camera and a single 13 MP front camera with no 4K video recording option. Xiaomi’s camera quality is generally good but around this price, nothing extraordinary. There is nothing much to complain about it considering the cost but you could expect a 4K recording facility and better nighttime shots.

Battery, Performance and Memory

The battery is a 5000 mAh one with 33W fast charging. It is one of the best deals you can find at this price point. It may take a bit more than an hour to charge the phone from 0-100%. We have an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset with 4 GB RAM. Well, you will get some 6 GB and 8 GB RAM phones for the price it’s true. Some of us will expect the 6 GB version to be released soon with a price not too higher than the 4 GB model. There is a fast UFS 2.2 128 GB ROM and a dedicated MicroSD slot. Overall, it’s still pretty satisfactory. Especially we appreciate the new Snapdragon 685 chipset which performs slightly better than the old Snapdragon 680.

Other features

Among other features, we have got a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, advanced audio quality with stereo speakers, 24-bit/192kHz audio, NFC, Infrared, OTG, dual Nano-SIM and so on.
