Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5
This is one of the all-time highest-priced smartphones we have seen in the market. There are special versions of luxury phones which are partly made of gold or diamond. It makes sense for those phones to be priced as high as this. But the Galaxy Z Fold5 is a regular smartphone. Yes, we have the folding factor which is indeed of great value as well as the performance and features are of the latest flagship level. But the question still remains, is it really that worth it to get a smartphone with a price like this? You can still buy a foldable laptop at a way cheaper price with much better performance and a way bigger monitor. Yes, it will not fit in your pocket, it won’t have phone connectivity, the app experience won’t be the same and you won’t have a flagship-quality smartphone camera. But still, you can find a powerful latest Android flagship under ৳1,00,000 with similar features and performance as this phone. The question is, is it worth it to pay about ৳2,00,000 just for the advantage of a foldable phone? Our simple answer is, not at all. Despite that, we are aware that, there are wealthy users or business personalities who would consider the advantage of this kind of new and rare technology for various purposes and the price may fit them.
Let’s discuss some of its features. The design looks gorgeous. The material is great. We have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and the back (when folded) and the frame is made of aluminum metal. When unfolded, the display is made of plastic. There is no technology as of now which can fold glass or other premium material in this kind of smartphone in a cost-effective way. So, companies are still using plastic displays. But maybe it will change in the future. It is fully waterproof which is a necessary feature for an expensive phone like this. The device has a 7.6 inches big screen when unfolded which will give a very pleasant reading experience as well as a general content viewing experience watching a video, using an app, or just simply internet browsing. We have a Full HD+ display and no Ultra HD display which we don’t see as acceptable for a pricey gadget like this. But we have a so-called Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology for an excellent viewing experience. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, stylus support (another great feature) and a 6.2″ dynamic AMOLED display if you want to use it in folded mode as a more regular smartphone.
Both front and back cameras are like the last year’s Galaxy Z Fold4 except that we now have an 8K video recording option for the back camera instead of 4K. These are fine quality flagship cameras and you should be satisfied with them.
The next complaint is in the battery section. It’s coming with a 4400 mAh battery. Yes, Samsung batteries generally perform better because of finer and more optimized hardware and software quality but still, you could expect a 5000 mAh battery at least. The charging is a maximum of 25W only. There is 15W wireless charging but that’s way too low for a phone of this standard. But when it comes to performance, there is no room for any complaint at all. We have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset which is one of the fastest in any smartphone right now. There is also 12 GB RAM and Android 13 with further 2 or 3 major updates.
Among other features, there is Samsung DeX, Bixby, Ultra Wideband support, Samsung Pay, 32-bit/384kHz audio, stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, 5G connectivity and so on.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5
The main difference between the fold and the flip models is of course the vertical and horizontal fold. The Flip model isn’t as big as the fold one. The idea of this phone is to make it as compact as possible. But because the screen size is not big, the pricing of this phone is therefore also way lower. But we still have the 5G connectivity, the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (but with 8 GB RAM), a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Full HD display, waterproof body and so on. But here, the camera quality is slightly lower. There is also no Stylus or Samsung DeX support. So, some very key features are missing. Despite that, the device costs ৳1,83,999 which is still huge in terms of value for money. The key feature really is its stylish flip technology with a secondary display and very compact design.
