Oppo released yet another A series smartphone, namely Oppo A38 for the Bangladesh market. It is officially priced at ৳15,990 and there is one single 4/128 GB model. It comes in two different colors; Glowing Black and Glowing Gold.
We have seen similar phones, such as the Oppo A58 4G model and the Oppo A78, that are also released in Bangladesh recently. They are very identical in terms of design and specs. The Oppo A38 is a lower priced phone compared to the other two, and it reflects in the specs as well.

The design of the back panel surely stands out and gives a sort of its own style identity. You can say that it’s a contemporary Oppo phone. But on the front, it looks very classic, with a waterdrop v-style notch with a big bezel, especially on the bottom part. There is IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance but there is no screen protection. The body is made of plastic, but you can hardly expect any different for this cost.

There is a 90Hz display with 720 nits max brightness level. The quality is HD+ IPS and there are a bunch of Full HD screen phones around the price also in the official market and this gadget remains behind in terms of display quality.

The 50 MP main back camera is pretty decent. Daylight photo shooting should be satisfactory and we have seen some photo samples from hands-on video reviews. There is a night-mode but you’ll need to use the flash to capture photos in the dark. The 5 MP front camera has 1080p video recording as well. But we excepted at least an 8 MP camera with a bit of better quality.

There is a 5000 mAh battery with Oppo 33W SuperVOOC charger. the first 0-50% charging takes only about half an hour which is impressive if we bear the cost of the device in mind. Both the charging and the battery life is well-optimized in this gadget.

MediaTek Helio G85 is a good performance chipset and it’s very similar to the Helio G88 except that it is slightly behind in the gaming performance. It is a good durable chipset for long-term usage and stable gaming. But there is only 4 GB RAM and if you pay 16K for a phone at the end of 2023, you should definitely get at least 6 GB actual built-in RAM which significantly improves day-to-day performance and gaming compared to 4 GB RAM which may show lags and starters sometimes.

But the good news is that there is 128 GB internal storage with a dedicated MicroSD slot next to the dual SIM slot. So, storage is no issue at all. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side and there is USB Type-C as well.
