Android
Android is the most popular mobile phone OS (operating system) of today, having more than 80% of the smartphone market share all around the globe. Most popular smartphone brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Oppo, OnePlus, Sony, Motorola and so on are using Android as their OS. It is one big reason for the success of this Google made Os. However, the versatility of apps, user-friendly UI, security etc. are some important reasons why those brands considered Android in the first place.
Android 10
Android 10 was commercially released on 3rd September 2019. It is the tenth major update and 17th version of Android OS. Those who are considering to buy a smartphone, we highly recommend buying an Android 10 smartphone or a smartphone that can be upgraded to Android 10 to get the best out of your phone. Android 10 phones come with many new features, a much-improved performance and security compared to the previous versions. It is also the latest Android version as of now and is well-integrated with 5G.
Android History
After the first release in September 2008, this operating system is continuously being upgraded to match the latest technological standard, or in other words, it is continually trying to bring better technology and user experience through its new versions and updates. The Android update history goes like this – Alpha (1.0), Beta (1.1), Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6), Eclair (2.0–2.1), Froyo (2.2–2.2.3), Gingerbread (2.3–2.3.7), Honeycomb (3.0–3.2.6), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0–4.0.4), Jelly Bean (4.1–4.3.1), KitKat (4.4–4.4.4, 4.4W–4.4W.2), Lollipop (5.0), Marshmallow (6.0), Nougat (7.0), Oreo (8.0), Pie (9.0) and 10. With every new update, Google optimizes the software even better, makes security improvements, adds new features, fixes small bugs, etc.
Android in Bangladesh
Like other countries, the usage of Android smartphones is rising steadily in Bangladesh. It is the operating system of the vast majority of smartphone users in Bangladesh. Many users are still using smartphones with older Android versions such as Oreo v8.1 or Oreo v8.1 (Go Edition). However, the usage of smartphones with Android Pie v9.0 and Android 10 is rising in the current time.
Other Smartphone Operating Systems
After Android, Apple’s iOS is the most popular smartphone system, which is exclusive to iPhone users. It is also considered one of the most secure OS in the smartphone industry. However, because of the high price of iPhones and some limitations such as a lower amount of Apps compared to Android, many paid services that are free in Android etc, iPhone couldn’t get as popular as Android. After that, Nokia’s KaiOS, Windows Mobile or Huawei’s Harmony OS are some options that are currently having a very small amount of market share.
