It has been a few months since the 4G network has been introduced in Bangladesh and now 5G summit took place in Bangladesh on Wednesday 25th July 2018 with the involvement of Bangladesh Government officials, mobile operator Robi and world’s second most popular Android smartphone manufacturer Huawei. The technological advancement is getting faster even in developing countries like Bangladesh. A successful 5G speed test in the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Bangladesh showed 4.17 Gbps speed which is 10 to 20 times faster than current 4G speed. Imagine downloading a Full HD movie in less than 1 minute. This is going to be 5G.
The speed is not the most significant factor of 5G. It is in fact, the possibilities and changes 5G is going to bring in the society. Ideas like connecting roads and cars through 5G, let smart vehicles communicate with each other through the network, smart homes, AR glass, AI and robot services are being tested. If these ideas become successful, 5G may not only remain within your device, it will shape the environment and reality around you in the near future.
5G network will primarily be available in urban areas such as big cities. Yes, you will also need a new 5G supported smartphone because it uses new technology that needs new kind of chipset.
There are many plans and possibilities with 5G. But many of them are costly, can make humans hugely dependent on a network system and any security issue in the network can lead to a huge mess. This is why 5G is just focused on data transfer speed for now. It needs more research and tests for future plans. It is not sure when 5G will be commercially available in Bangladesh. Experts say that it may take four to five years to introduce 5G technology in Bangladesh.
