Hint: We haven't seen any new phone releases from OK Mobile since 2015. It can be that the business operations of this company are paused or even permanently closed. The below text is for historical purpose only.
OK Mobile is the first company to produce mobile phones directly in their factory in Bangladesh. It is why it is also popularly called the first made in Bangladesh mobile company. There are other popular brands such as Walton and Symphony which are also known as Bangladeshi companies. But these brands used to import devices from Chinese brands such as Gionee and re-brand them with their name. Since 2017, Walton started to manufacture their phones in Bangladesh too.
Ok Mobile officially started to market its products at the end of July 2014. The first ever produced smartphone from them is OK K5. In the year 2010, Kazi Jashimul Islam thought of producing Bangladeshi made handsets. Afterward, under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) they have made a contract with the government to build a mobile phone assembly plant. They are also planning to bring tabs, PSTN handsets and internet modem in the market. Sales and service center, brand outlets and own call centers are to be established all around Bangladesh. The first ever Bangladeshi made octa-core processor smartphone is named OK Mobile Jupiter Z7 which has got quite a good amount of attention from smartphone users and potential buyers. But subsequently, service is going to play the key role as the market specialists are predicting. Another big issue in low budget smartphones is the quality. Low battery backup, low durability as well as overheat and lag problem are some common reasons to complain about the low priced smartphones in the market. If OK Mobile can show improvement in these matters combined with better features, there is a very high chance that they may secure a top position in Bangladesh.
